Besides birds, small mammals can also be found, such as badgers, also called coati (Nassua narica), abundant due to the integration of large patches of native vegetation in the design of the golf course as well as conservation efforts towards them, providing excellent sheltering areas for these and other mammals like bats, several species of reptiles, and a great variety of insects.

For instance, large pipe lines that run vertically across roads and highways within the golf course serve as artificial channels that allow for the maintenance between mangrove areas that usually remain flooded by enabling water to flow through them and thus significantly reducing the effects of habitat fragmentation. Proof of the success of this measure, is the numerous population of crocodiles (Crocodylus moreletti) that live in mangroves and use the pipe lines to move from one flooded zone to another without encountering important obstacles that affect their feeding, reproductive or resting habits.
Riviera Cancún Golf Course harbors a wide variety of birds, both resident and migratory, that continue to nest and feed on fish, frogs and insects that inhabit zones of the mangrove. This fact is an excellent indicator of good environmental quality of any ecosystem.
